Our History
John and Bernice Bemowski originally owned the Hilltop Pub & Grill in the 1940's and ran the bar for a total of thirty-seven years. In the mid 1950's a bus hit the bar, destroying much of the building. The bar was rebuilt and continued to be run by the Bemowski's untill the bar was purchased by Bill and Kathy Mitchell in 1983. At that time only the current bar area was used for drinking and dining. The Hilltop had a very limited menu, with simple sandwiches and appetizers. In 1987 the enclosed deck was added, doubling the seating capacity during the summer months. The front patio was added in 1989 to accommodate the growing business. Upon expansion of the menu, a third dining area, the dining room, was completed in 1993. The keg room expansion took place in 1997. The keg room allows 20 more tables and features an origonal beer keg from the Point Brewery as a doorway. On January 1st, 2001 Bill and Kathy sold the Hilltop to their general manager and son, Mike and his wife Sara. As of 2008, Mike and Sara Mitchell are enjoying their 8th year of ownership, bringing the Mitchell total to 26 years of Hilltop stewardship.

Throughout the years the Hilltop has undergone many changes in construction, decor, menu items and ownership. With the addition of the dining areas the menu has progressed from simple saandwiches and appetizers to homemade soups, daily lunch and dinner specials and family style dinners. However, the local population will still rave about the char-grilled hamburgers and our famous fish fry.
